A Serbian court on Tuesday convicted three neo-Nazis and sentenced them to up to 25 days in prison after a clash with antifascists, in an incident that has triggered public debate about extremist groups in the country. Nearly 60 followers of the extremist Nacionalni Stroj National Guard group were arrested on Sunday after they defied a ban and gathered for a protest demanding that the contested Kosovo province remain part of Serbia. (…) Vladan Stanojevic, a Novi Sad court official, said 14 of the arrested were released, three convicted of disrupting public order while others were still being processed. Police said earlier that 11 Slovak citizens, who were among the detainees, have been deported. Organizers of the anti-fascist gathering accused the police of failing to protect them, while liberal politicians said the government was too soft on the rightist groups.

Putin rails against Baltic anti-Semitism - Haaretz - Israel News
Russian President Vladimir Putin railed against Estonia and Latvia on Wednesday, accusing the former Soviet republics of condoning Nazism. Speaking at a Kremlin meeting with members of the European Jewish Congress, Putin also lashed out at Ukraine for allowing veterans of partisan groups that fought both the Nazis and the Soviet Army to hold war remembrances. He also criticized the European Union for its indifference. “We know that denying the Holocaust in several countries is prosecuted under the law, but at the same times, the actions of the Latvian and Estonian authorities openly indulge the heroization of the Nazis and their supporters,” Putin said.
Ban threat for Sparta over racism
The Times - Article - Ban threat for Sparta over racism
Czech public television channel Ceska Televize (CT) has threatened champions Sparta Prague with a ban unless they put a stop to anti-semitic slogans being brandished by a group of their fans. A certain section of the clubs fans unfurled a banner on Monday aimed at Sparta’s bitter city rivals Slavia Prague and containing the word “Jude” - German for Jew - while also chanting the same word. In mid-August the Jewish community in Prague sent an open letter to Sparta saying: “With the chant ’Jude’, a section of your supporters demonstrated support for anti-semitic nazism without your club acting resolutely against it.” The letter also reminded the club that around 80,000 Czech Jews were victims of the Holocaust. Sparta have been in trouble before for nazi gestures with playmaker Pavel Horvath fined around 7,250 euros in September for giving a nazi salute.
