The message from people fighting Nazism – and backed up by a growing stack of statistics – is that far right attitudes are strengthening in Germany, with unpredictable and potentially explosive consequences. In 2008, the authorities recorded a 30 per cent rise in crimes committed by far right groups. In March, a government-commissioned study revealed that a staggering one in 20 boys aged 15 belonged to a far right organisation – a higher proportion than are involved in mainstream politics.

The proposed legislation would grant a special honour and pensions to all those who fought in the Second World War – those who fought for Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini and anti-fascist partisans alike – essentially equating the two. (…) Berlusconi’s forces have a comfortable majority in parliament. They include the right-wing National Alliance, headed by the former neo-fascist Gianfranco Fini. The legislation calls for the creation of a new „Order of the Tricolore“ – a reference to Italy’s flag – whose members would be all Italians who fought between 1940-1945. It calls for them to receive pensions based on their rank, and for the order to be headed by the Italian president. President Giorgio Napolitano, who fought against the Nazis and Fascists and joined the Communist party after the war, didn’t enter into specifics of the debate during his remarks at an official ceremony Saturday. But he called for respect for all the war dead.

The Czech government decided today to contribute two million crowns to the repair of the Polish Oswiecim-Brzezinka (Auschwitz-Birkenau) Memorial. The proposal was made by outgoing Defence Minister Vlasta Parkanova in reaction to a Polish request for financial assistance in the protection of the buildings of the infamous former Nazi concentration and extermination camp in Auschwitz that are falling into dilapidation. The Czech Republic is a second country after Germany to have promised financial assistance.

Shocked by the news that a state branch of a neo-Nazi group had set up headquarters in Phoenix, Medford resident Nicole Strykowski decided to act. She’s inviting the community to take a stand with her on the sidewalks in the center of Phoenix between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday to „make the presence of love felt“ and peacefully counter the ideology represented by the National Socialist Movement. (…) „We want to counter hate with love and let people know the residents here stand for love, not hatred,“ Strykowski said. „We are so much bigger than bigotry, hatred and fear.“ Strykowski said that when she first read about the National Socialist Movement in Oregon and its members’ criminal pasts and recruiting efforts, she wanted to ignore the news.

Andrew Patterson, a member of the opposition, told us, „What we are is the national socialist movement we are American Nazi’s I guess if you will.“

Serbia’s government has formed a special commission to try to locate the grave of a World War II guerrilla leader executed as a traitor by the Communists, officials said Monday. The location of Dragoljub Draza Mihailovic’s grave has been unknown since postwar Communist authorities executed him in 1946 for collaboration with the Nazi occupiers. For decades, the issue has fueled divisions in Serbia, where many believe that Mihailovic was a hero who was killed for his loyalty to the Karadjordjevic royal family which ruled the country before the war. Mihailovic is particularly respected among Serbs in America, most of whom had fled Communism. A Chicago-based Serb group recently offered a $100,000 (euro75,500) reward for help finding the grave.

(…) It has now emerged that Michael Dwyer’s associates in the Nacion Gamba group were responsible for racist murders and attacks on native American Bolivians and are also involved in the drugs trade. They openly flaunted their Nazi tendencies despite the fact that their leader, who was killed with Dwyer, was of part-Jewish extraction. (…) While his family are seeking an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the 24-year-old Tipperary man’s death, it appears that he was drawn to the group after becoming one of the gang leader Eduardo Rozca-Flores’ Facebook „friends“. The gang, led by Rozca-Flores, who was openly anti-Semitic, is believed to have been backed by right-wing elements in the wealthy Santa Cruz area of Bolivia where he and Mr Dwyer and another member of the gang were shot dead by state forces 10 days ago. Bolivia was used as a haven by members of the notorious Croatian Ustachi who sided with the Nazis in the Second World War and committed genocide against the Serbian population during the war. The ex-Ustachis built strong links with the white ruling classes of the country. The Ustachi Croatians had extreme right-wing Catholic views and many were helped to escape to South America with the assistance of supporters in Rome.

Dwyer died alongside Eduardo Rozsa Flores, an adventurer who held a Croatian passport, and Arpad Magyarosi, a Romanian of Hungarian ethnicity. Bolivian authorities claim the trio were hatching a plot to assassinate the country’s left-wing President Evo Morales. It is now understood that Dwyer’s associates were members of a group responsible for racist murders and attacks on indigenous Bolivians.

Die Zusammenarbeit von SPD und Linksextremisten“ referieren. Referenten bei dieser Burschenschaft waren in der Vergangenheit unter anderem Klaus Hornung („Antifaschismus. Zur Geschichte und Aktualität eines politischen Kampfbegriffs“) und der JF-Redakteur Curd-Torsten Weick. Krautkrämer (Jg. 1979) schreibt seit 2006 für die JF. Er greift auch für die neurechte Zeitschrift „Gegengift“ zur Feder.

Die rechtsextremen Parteien NPD und DVU haben im Jahr 2007 mehrere größere Spenden erhalten. Dies geht aus dem aktuell veröffentlichen Rechenschaftsbericht hervor. Großspender der NPD im Jahr 2007 waren Rolf Hanno (Marbella, Spanien) mit 66 608,– Euro, der NPD-Bundesvorsitzende Udo Voigt (Moosburg) mit 10 187,06 Euro, der NPD-Landtagsabgeordnete und Parteichef in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Stefan Köster (Pätow) mit 12 250,90 Euro sowie Manfred Stanze (Hamburg) mit 20 000,– Euro. Der 1919 in Hamburg geborene Hanno war einst Nachrichtenmann bei der Wehrmacht und 1942/43 in Russland eingesetzt. Hanno ist seit Jahren als Mäzen der rechtsextremen Szene bekannt. Stanze schaltet seit Ende der 90er Jahre immer wieder gewerkschaftsfeindliche Anzeigen in rechtsextremen Blättern. Zusätzlich erhielt die NPD eine Erbschaft von Sigrid Schmale (Werdohl) in Höhe von 16 983,05 Euro.

Wie ein Sprecher am Dienstag mitteilte, hatten sich mehrere Neonazis in der Wohnung eines polizeibekannten Mannes getroffen. Von der Feier seien «erhebliche Ruhestörungen» ausgegangen, zudem sei mehrfach «Sieg Heil» gerufen worden.

Bisher galt der Antisemitismus als ein Phänomen linker und rechter Randgruppen. Doch eine neue Studie belegt, dass judenfeindliche Überzeugungen auch die bürgerliche Mitte prägen. So gab es bei Demonstrationen gegen Israels Gaza-Krieg Plakate mit der Aufschrift „Ich bin Antisemit und das ist gut so“. (…) Seit zwei Jahren geht Schwarz-Friesel in einer Studie der Frage nach, wie sich der Antisemitismus heute äußert. Dazu analysiert sie mit ihrem Team rund 10.000 E-Mails und Briefe, die in den vergangenen fünf Jahren beim Zentralrat der Juden und der israelischen Botschaft in Deutschland eingegangen sind. „Der Großteil davon ist klar antisemitisch“, erklärte die Germanistin in einer Zwischenbilanz der Studie. „Und zu unserer Überraschung stammten weit über 80 Prozent von gebildeten Menschen aus der Mitte der Gesellschaft.“ Diese judenfeindlichen Äußerungen würden meist sehr geschickt verpackt. „Aber die Semantik ist genauso radikal wie bei Rechtsextremen.“

Die Neonazis haben vor dem Verwaltungsgericht Mainz Erfolg gehabt: Sie dürfen am Maifeiertag durch Mainz marschieren. Das zuvor von der Stadt ausgesprochene Verbot verstoße gegen die Versammlungsfreiheit, so das Gericht. Damit darf die „Initiative Süd West“ am kommenden Freitag unter dem Motto „01. Mai 2009 – Sozial geht nur National“ zu einer Demonstration und einer Versammlung aufrufen, zu der etwa 300 Teilnehmer erwartet werden. Die Stadt hatte den Aufmarsch Anfang April verboten, die Initiative hatte Widerspruch dagegen eingelegt. Die Stadt Mainz teilte mit, dass sie ihrerseits noch heute gegen das Urteil Beschwerde vorm Oberverwaltungsgericht einlegen wird. Ausrichter der Demonstration ist die „Initiative Süd West“, zu der der wegen Körperverletzung verurteilte NPD-Kader Mario Matthes gehört. Das Verwaltungsgericht sieht in seinem Urteil keine Anzeichen dafür, dass mit der Demonstration die öffentliche Sicherheit und Ordnung gefährdet sei. Nur dann wäre ein Verbot der Demonstration rechtens. „Allein die Befürchtung der Stadt, dass es zu demonstrativen Meinungsäußerungen mit neonazistischen Inhalten kommen wird, reicht nicht aus“, schreibt das Gericht in seiner Begründung.

Das Verwaltungsgericht Mainz gab am Freitag dem Antrag der rechtsextremen «Initiative Südwest» gegen das von der Stadt verhängte Verbot statt. Ein Verbot sei nur dann zulässig, wenn «hinreichende tatsächliche Anhaltspunkte» dafür vorlägen, dass durch die Versammlung die öffentliche Sicherheit oder Ordnung unmittelbar gefährdet wären, begründeten die Richter ihr Urteil. Derartige Anhaltspunkte gebe es im vorliegenden Fall aber nicht.
