Post-war Jews have more cancer
Israeli Jews who survived World War Two in Europe have a significantly higher risk for cancer than other Jews, possibly as a result of hardships endured in the Holocaust, researchers said on Monday. They said their study, published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, suggests that stress or other factors such as extreme deprivation may play a role in triggering cancer.
Neighbors riled as Lindenhurst man displays Nazi swastika
A 52-year-old Lindenhurst resident annoyed his neighbors by hanging a Nazi swastika flag from the chimney of his house – until his mother made him take it down. At least one neighbor called Suffolk police Sunday night to complain that the symbol of hate was hanging in public view from the home on 41st Street. Property records and neighbors say the home is occupied by Richard Greggs. Though police said they are not investigating Greggs, Commissioner Richard Dormer said, „While courts have upheld the rights of these individuals to promote these disgusting symbols, all decent people must denounce it vigorously.“ The complaints generated enough media attention that Greggs’ mother, 75, who also lives at the brown-shingled cape house, ordered him late Sunday to remove it.

Holocaust denier Williamson to battle fine of up to €12,000
A German court has slapped Holocaust-denier Richard Williamson with a fine of up to €12,000, which the English bishop’s lawyer vowed on Monday to fight. The court in the Bavarian city of Regensburg sent notice to German lawyer Matthias Loßmann to say it was fining Williamson for incitement over his claim on Swedish television that fewer than 300,000 Jews died in Nazi death camps. Loßmann told The Local that the court was giving Williamson the option to pay the fine or take the case further, which will mean facing trial. “We just got the notice today, so it’s a bit early to say what case we will make, but I think we are going to fight it,” he said. The exact fine would depend on Williamson’s income. He would need to pay 120 times his daily income, up to €12,000. Williamson has two weeks to make his appeal.

Williamson was consecrated a bishop by the pope’s Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), an ultraconservative splinter group.
International Tracing Service (ITS) – Belgium Receives Digital Copies of ITS Documents
The National Archives of Belgium (Archives Générales du Royaume) in Brussels received data copies from the archives of the International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen. Following Israel, the US, Poland and Luxembourg, Belgium is now also making use of the extensive documentary holdings on Nazi persecution. In accordance with the resolution by the International Commission responsible for overseeing the work of ITS, all eleven member states are entitled to digital copies of the documents archived in Bad Arolsen. “The files in the ITS archive convey a detailed picture of the dimension of Nazi persecution,” said ITS Director Jean-Luc Blondel. “They also include documents on the repression of the resistance in Belgium, the exploitation of Belgian slave labourers and the persecution of Jews and other minorities.” With the data transfer to Brussels, research can now also profit from these files at the National Archives of Belgium. The Yad Vashem Memorial in Jerusalem, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw and the Documentation and Research Centre on the Resistance in Luxembourg already work with document scans from the ITS archive.

It carries a logo that is inscribed “The Northwest Front – Our Race is our Nation.” (…) In an audio message sent to Vancouverite, a man identifying himself as Covington said Hughes was executed by police. “Yesterday morning, Comrade Jeff Hughes was murdered, he was shot down in front of his home on Vancouver Island,” said the audio message. “10 bullets were fired at his body. This was an execution.” “The Zionist establishment in Canada found Jeff Hughes to be inconvenient,” said the audio message. “Jeff opposed his country’s infamous human rights tribunals.”

A white supremacist group plans to stage an anti-illegal immigration rally in Riverside this weekend. It’s the second one held by members of the Detroit-based National Socialist Movement in the past month. Police broke up the first rally after the group clashed with hundreds of counter-protesters. Only eight members of the National Socialist Movement showed up for the September rally outside a Home Depot store in Riverside, chanting over a megaphone, “American jobs for American People,“ and „White power! White power! White Power!” The group was drowned out by counter-protesters banging drums, pots, and pans, and chanting “Nazis go home!” There was a lot of shouting, and stiff-arm Nazi salutes. A swastika flag was set on fire. Police broke up a couple of scuffles. The neo-Nazis left after about 45 minutes. To the National Socialist Movement, it was a rousing success. Even though the Riverside Police Department said there were no serious fights and no one brandished a weapon, the NSM’s Web site refers to the “Great 8” as proud street warriors who stood their ground against machete-wielding, rock throwing „illegal immigrants, Jews, and homosexuals“.

Czech police charge 18 neo-Nazis, some allegedly preparing a terrorist attack
Detectives from the Organized Crime Detection Unit (Útvar pro odhalování organizovaného zločinu – ÚOOZ) have charged a total of 18 people with supporting and promoting a movement aimed at suppressing human rights and freedoms after house searches conducted Wednesday. One man and one woman remain in custody. ÚOOZ head Robert Šlachta made the announcement at a press conference today, adding that neither the number of those charged nor the extent of the charges are necessarily final. He also said this is the first time officers have ever suspected extreme-right adherents of preparing a terrorist attack. Wednesday’s raid, during which officers arrested a total of 24 people, concerned three separate criminal cases. The first one involved police arresting 12 people in Dobříš, Prague, Tábor and several other towns who are allegedly linked to the neo-Nazi organization White Justice. The ÚOOZ has determined that this organization is connected to National Resistance and aims to spread the ultra-right ideology through violence. Of the 12 people arrested, police charged 10 and released them on their own recognizance.

Nazi salute in park riles anti-racist campaigners
A photograph of a white supremacist raising a Nazi salute at a holiday park where they have converged for an annual gathering has angered anti-racist campaigners. Supporters of the far-Right National Front organisation are staying at the Top 10 Holiday Park in Seaview, Hutt Valley, where it will hold its annual congress after a rally and march through central Wellington today. Yesterday, The Dominion Post obtained photographs of National Front members inside the camp a year ago mixing with white supremacists wearing clothing covered in Nazi symbols and white power slogans. A National Front member is pictured in a group raising their right arms in a Nazi salute. Anti-racism campaigner John Christie said the photographs were more worrying than images that surfaced earlier in the week of Auckland Grammar School pupils bowing to a Nazi flag. He said the camp should reconsider who it had as guests. „They were stupid schoolboys trying to be funny whereas these guys are quite serious about what they’re doing. It’s appalling that a holiday park would host a group of racist Nazis.“

Das Kärntner Bundesheer wird künftig nicht mehr an Veranstaltungen des Traditionsverbandes Kärntner Abwehrkämpferbund (KAB) teilnehmen. Das kündigte Militärkommandant Gunther Spath in einem Schreiben an den KAB-Chef Fritz Schretter mit. Bisher hatte das Militär unter anderem die Musik gestellt. Als Grund für die Absage nannte Spath die Töne, die Schretter bei einer Veranstaltung am 10. Oktober angeschlagen habe. Der KAB-Mann hatte in seiner Rede erneut vor einer drohenden „Slowenisierung“ Südkärntens gewarnt.

Darauf verständigten sich die Fraktionen der Stadtverordnetenversammlung und die Spitze der Stadtverwaltung, wie ein Rathaussprecher am Donnerstag mitteilte. Hinweise nimmt die Polizei auf Wunsch auch vertraulich entgegen.

In Frage 48 wird nach den Sorgen und Bedrohungsgefühlen der Adressaten gefragt, wo beispielsweise neben „Gewaltkriminalität“, „Betrügern, Schwindlern“ und der „Verschmutzung der Umwelt“ auch die „Einwanderung von Ausländern“ als Antwortmöglichkeit geboten wird. „Die Auflistung ist inakzeptabel“, kritisiert Torsten Hahnel von der Arbeitsstelle Rechtsextremismus des Vereins Miteinander e.V. in Halle, die Umfrage. „So genannte Ausländer werden hier in einem Zug mit unangenehmen ‚Dingen’, wie Hundekot, mutwilliger Zerstörung und Schmutz und Müll auf den Straßen genannt“, so Hahnel weiter.

Mittelhessische Naziszene im Aufwind
Seit einer Demonstration 2008 in Wetzlar treten Nazis in Wetzlar und Umgebung verstärkt mit öffentlichen Aktionen in Erscheinung. Ihr Selbstbewusstsein scheint dabei fast grenzenlos. Eine kurze Beschreibung der Situation im Raum Wetzlar/Giessen soll darstellen was für eine Problematik sich in Mittelhessen im letzten Jahr und in den letzten Monaten entwickelt hat. (…) Bereits seit längerem machen die „Freien Kräfte Schwalm-Eder“ in Nordhessen mit brutalen Übergriffen von sich reden, jüngst bei einem Überfall auf eine Kneipe in Borken. Im südhessischen Raum gründete sich die „Kameradschaft Darmstadt“ neu und in Frankfurt versuchen parteiungebundene Neonazis unter dem Namen „Block F“ mehr oder weniger erfolgreich neue Strukturen aufzubauen. Und auch im mittelhessischen Raum scheint sich in letzter Zeit so einiges zu tun.
Bei Marburg gab es im August einen brutalen Überfall von Nazis auf zwei vermeintlich „Linke“ und im Raum Wetzlar/Giessen bestehen inwzischen zwei organisierte Nazigruppierungen (AN Wetzlar, Anti-Antifa Wetzlar) neben der NPD, welche zur Zeit vor allem durch die hohe Anzahl von Aktivitäten auf sich aufmerksam machen. Anfang des Jahres gründeten sich die sogenannten „Autonomen Nationalisten Wetzlar“ und traten erstmals mit einer eigenen Internetseite öffentlich in Erscheinung. Mitbegründer der AN-Wetzlar und auch der Betreiber der Homepage ist Danny Wolff aus Biebertal-Königsberg bei Giessen. Ein alter Hase in der AN-Szene und bereits seit 2004/2005 dort aktiv. Die guten Kontakte von Danny W. nach Dortmund und Siegen dürften der Grund dafür sein das sich die öffentlichen Aktivitäten der AN Wetzlar – neben dem Kleben von Aufklebern und Sprühereien – bisher hauptsächlich auf den „Antikriegstag“ am 05.09.09 in Dortmund beschränkten.

Rechtsextreme in Osteuropa: USA besorgt über Rechts-Kontakte der Tories
Die britisch-konservative Partei will im europäischen Parlament einem Bündnis mit einer rechtsorientierten Partei beitreten. Die USA sehen darin nicht nur den Einfluss Großbritanniens in der EU schwinden, sie fürchten gar eine Spaltung Europas. US-Außenministerin Hillary Clinton soll die Torys bekehren. Die konservative Partei in Großbritannien soll Kontakt zu der aus Lettland stammenden rechtsorientierten Partei „Für Vaterland und Freiheit“ haben. Diese bemüht sich vor allem um die Organisation ausländerfeindlicher Referenden.
